Hydrothermal (OTEC) Plant on Okinawa

There is currently a project underway on the Japanese island of Okinawa to test the feasibility of hydrothermal generation using pumped cold water from the ocean depths and warm surface water as the heat source and heat sink. The goal of the project is to show that hydrothermal, in this case Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a useful renewable energy for tropical and subtropical islands.
